THE PHOTOZINE “KADRY ULITS” (STREETS' FRAMES)

The original idea was about the architecture of buildings and unobvious beautiful town locations which people usually don’t notice in everyday life. That’s how I started to learn the town’s history and collect this information. I took photos of the buildings and locations in the summer of 2025. There were about 500 pics. When the stuff had been collected, the design process was begun. During the period of the structure and pages makeup creation I changed the original concept a little. The zine looked empty and aloof, so I put a part of my soul into it. That’s why I included my childhood memories, emotions and places, that I had shot years before, in it. Fortunately, there were enough photos in my archive. Therefore the original idea became fully realised and more personal.

Another important thing of creating my photozine is paper choosing for printing. The zine contains a lot of photos instead of texts, so the paper shouldn’t reflect so much and should be soft to the touch. That’s why I’ve chosen design paper which is heavy enough and not too hard at the same time allowing images not to shine out. After I got the printed spreads, the sewing process has begun. I’ve chosen sewn perfect binding in order to open the zine by 180 degrees. The photozine consists of 60 pages, so I’ve divided it in 3 signatures and sewn them on altogether. For zine strength I’ve glued a textile strip to a spine and after that I’ve connected it with the cover. The last thing I had to do is cutting the photozine till the final size.
